Slavery is still allowed for over 1+ million Americans. Patch the 13th to ban slavery now!

Patch the 13th Amendment

Did you know slavery is still legal in the US?! There's just one (1) extra step since the Civil War.

Right now the first section of the 13th Amendment says:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

This means that for any crime, you can be sentenced to slavery. That's one hell of a loophole for something we thought we banned!

What should it say instead?

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

That's it! That's our entire "political agenda". Remove one clause. It's an easy fix... so why won't politicians do it? Patch the 13th and we can end slavery now.
